HEAVY DUTY Issue 90 January/February 2007HEAVY DUTY Issue 90 January/February 2007

WELCOME TO ISSUE 90, JAN/FEB 2007

A big gidday to you all for 2007! The new issue for Jan/Feb is our biggest ever, nearly 160 pages, and we are planning to grow even more this year.

So to kick off we have the Fire Blade from Santiago Choppers on our cover. Owned by Eddie Matt from Melbourne, Fire Blade showcases the best from the Santiago crew. It is a long, very lean, very powerful custom which shakes the notion that choppers have a traditional path to follow. This bike doesn't follow anyone! It makes a great cover for HEAVY DUTY as well as our first pull-out poster bike.

The other featured poster bike is no less memorable. Most of you will be familiar with Prozac Choppers and 'Cherry Ripe' is the first of a new line they are building for 2007. Powered by a big 127 Ultima motor, Cherry Ripe backs up Prozac's reputation as a premier builder of custom bikes and looks sensational.

Performance more your thing? Then take a look at any of the twelve other Street bikes we feature. Everything from a 1550 Night Rod, with nitrous and a supercharger, to a Deuce with Rivera 4-valve heads, to the full range of 2007 H-D 110 cube CVO bikes we rode in the USA recently. Plus there is a very tidy Twin Cam Trike spied at the recent HOG rally in Airlie Beach, a beautiful Panhead custom from CnC Cycleworks in Dandenong and a home brewed Chevy V8 custom from the Gold Coast. Best of all it's street legal, ADR compliant and being manufactured here in Australia.

As well, we report on the Wild Turkey Run and take a ride through central Australia on four V-twins all older than the FJ Holden! Doc has a huge Tech Torq section, a big update on Orange Betty, his 2004 CVO Electra Glide, and we pass on all the good news re Sturgis for 2007 and details on how you can get there. With, of course, the wrap up of Sturgis 2006 and why you should go!

Brit Chopper issue 9Brit Chopper issue 9

The start of a new series, “Alternative Living”. Not everyone lives in a house! There’s another cartoon from Mrs. Twang, and somehow she’s managed to include Crazy Odge in this one. Talking of Odgie, he’s written a good piece about Nostalgia Drag Racing. Sooze indulges in her passion for militaria with a feature on the German Kettenkrad tracked trike. Desperate and Perdix continue their tour of Thailand. You can also read about the 40 Watt Club. You might want to join them.

Cars. The return of the Blastolene Brothers. This time they’ve used the engine from an M47 Patton tank. A mere 30 litre air cooled V12.  There’s another chopped Moggy, and a fully customised 1936 Morris.

Let’s not forget the bikes, which include Wombat’s Sunbeam, a “Shed find” 1970’s Triumph chopper, an absolutely stunning Harley the lads found in Thailand, another chopped Lambretta, Phixer finishes “The Novice” and more.

Shaggy’s V-Max trike is in this issue, along with all the tech features, which include more on narrowing axles, the design of leading link forks, and fitting carburettors on engines they weren’t designed to fit on.

CENTRESPREAD: Robbies amazing supercharged Honda CB 750, with Jaguar car wheels front and back.
