Rares sont les comics qui mettent en premier plan la moto, avec un personnage féminin d'autant plus, et pourtant, il en existe bien une et elle se nomme Julie Wood. Son auteur Jean Graton (créateur de Michel Vaillant) a fait naître son personnage en 1976.

Julie Wood est une jeune Américaine championne de moto. Fougueuse et charmante à la fois, elle nous entraîne dans ses aventures mêlant rallye raid, endurance et motocross. Orpheline de naissance, elle fut élevée par son oncle Chris en Californie. Elle a deux frères : Phil et Indy. Elle vécut un amour dramatique mais intense avec le beau Steve Warson.

Cette demoiselle a eu donc 8 BD à son effigie (10 si on compte les deux publicitaires) avant de rejoindre Michel Vaillant dans ses aventures. Malgré la vieillesse de la BD, en fouillant un peu sur le net, vous pourrez facilement en trouver.

Ne vous méprenez pas, il ne s’agit pas d’une bande dessinée consacrée à la Harley Davidson quoique les noms des personnages soient un hommage au Twin Américain. En revanche les fans du genre coyote pourront repasser. Vous ne trouverez que des motos japonaises dans ces opus.

Pour la petite histoire, ce sont deux détectives qui aiment mêler enquête, humour et mécanique, des Starsky et Hutch des temps modernes. Dans ce premier volet intitulé « La nuit du masque », nos deux compères partent à la recherche d’un tueur en série caché derrière un masque. Mais ne vous y trompez pas, l’humour est au rendez-vous tout au long des pages.
